Acton Fall Fair- September 15th, 2017

The 104th Acton Fall Fair took place over the weekend of September 15th through the 17th. This three-day event is one that brings the community of Acton, Ontario together to have some fun and reminisce about the Fall Fairs of years past. This year's Acton Fall Fair was a very enjoyable event as the weather was well above seasonal which brought out the crowds who took in the sights and the sounds of the fair over the three days. To begin this post, let us take a look at some fun at the fair on the Friday evening, which is the first day of the fair!

Scott, our Mom, and I arrived at the fair on Friday around 5:20 pm. The temperature sure was warm in comparison to previous Friday evenings at the fair!
After checking out our winnings (and non-winnings) for the home crafts in the Dufferin Community Centre building, Scott and I ventured out to the midway.
It sure gets dark early in mid-September, but it makes for some nice shots of the fair midway rides at night.
Here is the Sizzler which was manufactured by Wisdom Rides. All the rides ta the Acton Fall Fair are owned and operated by Albion Amusements of Markdale, Ontario.
Here is the fast spinning Orbiter. It is a Tivoli Enterprises creation which originates from England.
Here is the Tilt-A-Whirl which is a classic and a staple at the Acton Fall Fair and most fairs for that matter.
Scott and I hopped on to the Mulligan Wheel, which is a decent sized gondola wheel. Here you can see the main midway from above.
Here is the Himalaya sign far off in the distance.
Here is the kiddie midway as seen form the Mulligan Wheel.
Here's the Cliff Hanger sitting idle as it was being worked on. It was later operating that evening.
The midway became busier as the evening progressed.
The carousel sure was a popular ride for many of the young visitors of the midway over the weekend.
The Fun Slide was also offering pint-sized thrills as well.
Here is the Lolli Swing creating memories for a few young thrill seekers.
The vendors section of the midway was re-routed this year due to the construction which was taking place on the building where the washrooms are located. This caused many vendors not to show this year due to the lack of space to accommodate them all.
There was a haze in the skies over the course of the weekend due to the significant rise in the temperature which ranged from 25°C-28°C (77°F-82°F)!
Here is the Zero Gravity spinning at full speed, causing passengers to stick to the wall!
Here is the Mulligan Wheel standing tall in the presence of the pink, hazy sun.
Here is the Starship 3000. It unfortunately had many burnt our lights but still looked nice at night.
Here is the Cuckoo Haus as the sun was beginning to set!
Within the past year or so, the drill shed was restored. This is the first fall fair in approximately 8 years since it was used.
The lumber supporting the structure was sandblasted to look like new again. The exterior was covered with new sheet metal and new roof. Also, concrete was added to the floor.
Here is the wonderful Acton Citizens Band performing prior to the Miss Acton ceremonies.
They played many great tunes throughout the course of an hour and did a very good job!
Nightfall had arrived which caused the midway to come alive at night.
The Mulligan Wheel has an array of patterns thanks to its LED lights.
Quite a few people came out to take in a ride or two during this warm evening.
Here is the Tilt-A-Whirl spinning some thrill seekers!
I just like the look of the classic Tilt-A-Whirl sign! The Tilt-A-Whirl is an all-time favourite ride of mine!
The lights sure are a spectacular sight on the midway at night!
The Orbiter's sign was flashy, so it was hard for me to capture.
The Himalaya sure was showcasing its display of flashy lights.
Here is a view of the midway from the Tilt-A-Whirl as Scott and I were waiting for the ride to begin.
The games of the midway were quite popular over the weekend.
Here's another view of the vibrant and flashy lights of the midway.
The Scooter bumper cars always has a nice display of lights.
Here is the Orbiter with its spectacular light display!
The midway also looks nice from a distance as well as it does up close!
After leaving the fairgrounds for the night, I had managed to capture this photo of the Avalanche from across Fairy Lake. You can see the reflection of it in the water. More photos of the fair are yet to come from Saturday and Sunday! Stay tuned! :-)
